Monthly Talk - Emma Conally-Barklem 'The High Flight: 50 Poems Inspired by Emily Brontë's Hawk'
£10.00
Emma Conally-Barklem
Tuesday 23rd June, 6:30pm
Brontë Birthplace, 72–74 Market Street, Thornton, BD13 3HF
Join us for a journey through space and time as Emma Conally-Barklem explores the creation of an imagined world drawn from one of the few known details of Emily Brontë’s life: her belief to have rescued and kept a merlin hawk named Nero. Soaring across history and the West Yorkshire landscape, the bird becomes both quarry and predator as Emma reflects on captivity and wildness, falconry, lore and mystery, through the enigmatic figure of Emily Brontë, who stands both inside and outside of time.
Emma Conally-Barklem is an author, yoga teacher and workshop facilitator based in Yorkshire. Emily Brontë’s Hawk is her first full collection.
