Monthly Talk: Irene Lofthouse "Keighley through Brontë eyes"
£10.00
Tuesday 12th May 6:30pm
Take a lively journey into Keighley as the Brontës knew it, led by Irene Lofthouse in character as the children's nursemaid Nancy Garrs. This talk explores why the family travelled there, who they visited, and what the bustling town was like—its shops, music, new technologies, and the people who shaped its character. Based on Keighley Library’s In the Footsteps of the Brontës trail, the talk also features reflections from Nancy on the Brontë children she knew in Thornton and Haworth.
Irene Lofthouse is a Yorkshire writer, performer and cultural historian whose work spans theatre, radio, festivals and community projects.
Doors open: 6pm
Talk begins: 6:30pm
Location: Brontë Birthplace, 72 - 74 Market Street, Thornton, BD13 3HF
